The Simple Future Tense (bentuk sederhana waktu akan datang) dipergunakan untuk :

a. Menerangkan suatu perbuatan atau peristiwa yang tidak dapat dielakan kejadianya.

contoh :

1. She will be thirty one next month = “ Dia akan berumur 31 tahun pada bulan depan”. Umur seseorang adalah suatu kejadian yang pasti tidak dapat diubah waktunya. maka tenses yang di gunakan adalah Simple Future Tense
2. Feast Day will be on Friday next year=” Hari Raya akan jatuh pada hari Jumat pada tahun depan”.
3. Hot summer will come again =” Musin Panas akan segera tiba lagi”

b. Menyatakan peristiwa atau perbuatan yang akan terjadi menurut dugaan dan harapan

Contoh

1. I hope that  you will succeed =” Saya berharap kamu akan sukses”.
2. Perhaps Yusril will go to Balikpapan next day=Mungkin Yusril akan pergi ke Balikpapan hari berikut”
3. I am afraid you wont come to my house again=” Saya takut kamu tidak datang lagi ke rumah saya”

c. Menunjukkan ketetapan hati untuk melakukan suatu perbuatan

contoh :

1. I will make this radio work even if I have to stay up all night to do it
2. I wont let it beat me
3. I shall go home if you are still doing that

d. Menyataan suatu janji

Contoh

1. If you pass your exams , you shall have a new motorcycle
2. I will send you a present on your Birth Day Party
3. Don’t worry , you shall get the present from me tomorrow

e. Menyatakan suatu kehendak

contoh :

1. If you find difficulties in exercises, I will help you
2. They say they will agree to my proposals
3. I am sure my father will let is go to the party

Keterangan waktu sebagai ciri khusus :

• If = Jika
• when/while = ketika
• before = sebeleum
• after =sesudah
• as soon as = segera setelah
• until=till = hingga

Rumus Umum :

I/We + shall + not leave

You/they /She/He/It + will + not leave
